The student is expected to: Have a basic knowledge of haemopoiesis
the student Should have adequate knowledge of the epidemiology, classification, laboratory diagnosis, treatment and control of parasitic and helminthic infections.

This course is designed: To enable students acquire the basic concepts of humoral and cell mediated immunity and also the application of the diagnosis of human infections and To provide students with the knowledge and the principles of immunology and the public health impact they have on the community.
students are expected to study laboratory policy and familiarize themselves with lab equipment and their uses. They should also know the various types of injuries in the lab and their management
the student would have acquired a good understanding of the biochemistry and pathophysiology associated with many tests routinely performed in a Clinical Laboratory in diagnosing lipid, Liver, and endocrine disorders.
This course will introduce students to the principles of molecular biological techniques, especially in the diagnosis of diseases. These diseases will range from bacterial, viral and parasitic.
students are expected to gain knowledge on food, water sewage and pollution microbiology.
This internship is designed to acquaint the students to the various Hospital Laboratory benches in distant health set-ups. It is expected to last longer (1 Month) and the students should equally rotate on all the laboratory disciplines and write and present an internship report.

The student should be able: To learn the main blood transfusion techniques and blood banking procedures and To know the Cameroon Governments Policy on Blood Transfusion
The student is expected to know the biology, morphology and basic taxonomy or classification of protozoa associated with human and animal diseases. The course should also provide the student with adequate knowledge of the clinical manifestation, host-parasite relationships pathogenesis, and management. the student would have: Acquired skills to perform biochemical tests useful in the diagnosis of renal disorders, disorders of water, sodium and potassium balance, abnormal proteins and disorders of carbohydrate metabolism; Appreciated the diagnosis of laboratory testing and biological variation, as well as the principles of quality control and quality assurance in the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory. An understanding of renal function and the mechanisms by which the human body maintains homeostasis for body water, electrolytes, glucose, proteins and acid base balances.
To enhance students’ knowledge in haematology and blood component therapy, immunology of blood, blood transfusion and blood bank.

The course is on the different types of medical laboratories, management functions, in clinical laboratories, organization and supervision involving laboratory design & space utilization, steps in clinical laboratory work flow, work schedule and workload measurements, productivity. Emphasis on quality control in clinical laboratories (choice of quality control materials), preventive maintenance and safety measures in quality control monitoring, education of laboratory personnel. The course It also provides students with on fundamental knowledge on the principles of health management and health economy.
